Tried Clifton2 recently and felt inspired enough to use them for Abingdon in place of my adios assize to flats.

Quite a revelation really. They weigh about the same as flats bit of course are much more cushioned. I think their weird rocker thing is worth something too- they are more responsive than the Nike Pegasus I had been swearing by.

It made for a 5min PB and a quicker post marathon recovery than I've ever had. Big thumbs up.

Love them as well - got the original Clifton as Half and Mara race shoe, and also the Challenger ATR which is the trail version of the Clifton, use these for all my long training runs.

I've recently switched to them and love them , conquest for road and the challenger for trail , got a nice pb in the trail version at parkrun today which is mainly grass and the grip was ok on the wet grass :-)

Google "Clifton 2 review" - loads of reviews and they all compare it to the original. The 2 is a bit heavier, midsole and outsole identical, so all changes to upper. Some say the 2 is a bit narrower in forefoot, others don't mention it. Tongue is now padded as opposed to being paper thin. Upper material a bit stronger. Insole a bit thicker.

Our local independent running shop has a Hoka event tomorrow night - apparently you can try them out and go for a little run. Quite tempted.

I got a pair of cliftons and at first thought they were a bit of a novelty to be reserved for easy running and not much more. I've ended up running further in them than any other shoe this year - they took time to adjust to but now I love 'em
