Doubles are a good way to keep the mileage up, as well as sneaking in the occasional short run to/from somewhere!

The Jungfrau Marathon is an absolute MUST do for me! And it's a toughie - they recon it'll take a good hour longer than your Road marathon time, ad there is a cut off of 6:30!!!!!!

Sounds like my kind of thing :)

If I had the time I would certainly do doubles - when I have done I've really enjoyed it. Used to do one easy, one hard session usually.

It's the only time that you really *have* to fill you glycogen window though - otherwise the second session will be underfuelled!

Not sure about that hellen, but you need to refuel within 30 mins of the first one and allow time enough for that to get absorbed before doing the second on if you want to avoid glycogen debt

What a difference the weather makes. Was much more comfortable today when not running through a cauldron!

a short run of 8 miles today

Avg pace 11:50( 1 sec/mile quicker than last Thursday)

Avg HR 140bpm(64%)

seem to have got back into the rhythm of the easy runs after Saturday.
Felt pretty strong at the end, so feel I can do 2 laps on Thursday when I attempt 16( the furthest I have ever run)

Also found by relaxing my arms a bit it seemed easier and felt I was moving well without too much effort.
This is how it's supposed to feel isn't it?
Maybe I can say I am gettign the hang of this HRM lark at last!

Pammie
Hello all

did a 5km race yesterday
The facts
I finished in 26:31. An improvement of 45 seconds of my best time this year set 2 weeks ago!!!!!
It was though at 79% WHR, so scope for improvement. Just need to get over 85%. Need to work on that
Garmin said my max was 198 (i've been led to believe its 192) not sure about that. If so means my WHR is even lower.
Will wait and if it happens again will take it like that
my splits totally amazed 12 seconds between fastest and slowest kms

Pammie- well done in your race.
I set a new max HR at my last race, so I would take it as the max until you see otherwise.

Can't say it does WGT.

Just wanted to mention, that after a few months, and having putting some focus into my training and watching my diet a bit more my Resting rate appears to be coming down again. 54 last week, and back to 52 this morning at 5am as I tried to get back to sleep after Micro Lums screamed the place down.

WGT- WW's polar does sometimes, shows some right wierd numbers!
I have occasionally had a problem when passing a particular set of traffic lights.

Good pace and HR esp on hills!:-)

Now my mileage is increasing, apart from the odd 6 mile temp 8 is the shortest distance i'm doing, so getting a distorted view of what is a long way!

Everything you need to know about training with a heart rate monitor. Remember the motto "I can maintain a fast pace over the race distance because I am an Endurance God". Mind the trap door....

Gobi lurks here, but for his advice you must first speak his name. Ask and you shall receive.

A quote:

"The area between the top of the aerobic threshold and anaerobic threshold is somewhat of a no mans land of fitness. It is a mix of aerobic and anaerobic states. For the amount of effort the athlete puts forth, not a whole lot of fitness is produced. It does not train the aerobic or anaerobic energy system to a high degree. This area does have its place in training; it is just not in base season. Unfortunately this area is where I find a lot of athletes spending the majority of their seasons, which retards aerobic development. The athletes heart rate shoots up to this zone with little power or speed being produced when it gets there." Matt Russ, US International Coach
