did nearly 28 mins on the treadmill tonight. covered nearly 2 miles doing walk 1 min run 2 mins.
Avg HR 139(63%) however it feels like i've worked much harder than that, I am completely drenched in sweat to start with!
Could I call these sessions a form of interval training? I could push myself a bit harder in the running bits and maybe doo fewer of them. I was treating the walk element as recovery.
Next session aiming to listen to an entire episode of Round The Horne which is around 30 mins( i missed the first bit of the episode I was listening to tonight!
Nice easy 70% on the street tomorrow, I think!

yes, that is an interval session, however to be a proper interval session according to parker you would need to hit 85% in the interval bit

Blimey, I'd fall off the back! and melt away to nothing!! might try it next time though,
the intervals need to be time though as the distance thingy isn't that good.
So my next question is should I continue with run 2 mins walk 1 min( recovery and do fewer repeats but at 85%? If so how many to start with?

I wore my buff as a sweatband and it worked a treat! Last week I had to get WW to fetch me a towl cos I got blinded!
This treadmill, I bought is permanently set on quite a steep incline and the belt only moves when you do( it's called a manual treadmill) so I have to work quite hard anyway!

Good running! Been a bit slack recently, but had a good one last night. 2m, 72% @ 8:48pace, then 2m hard, building up to 85%. 3d mile was 80% @ 7:29pace, then 4th mile was 87% @ 6:53, then 2m warm down at 75%.

girlie, I have started doing intervals on a track and get up to 85%, i am not sure that I have got the recovery right yet though. Because I have worked quite hard in the effort part I walk or stop and stretch for the recovery. last week I did 5x 800m with 80seconds recovery. I prob should have had a slightly longer recovery as the last one felt really hard, was planning 6 but couldnt manage it. I think the harder you go the more recovery you need. so if you do 2 mins at 85% then 1 minute recovery is prob ok but if those 2 mins are only at 75% then 1 minute recovery is too generous. If you dont really want to go as high as 85% so you find yourself doing around 75-80% for the intervals then you should prob go longer than 2 mins in order to deserve your rest of 1 minute. not sure if I am making sense but the longer you do your interval for the longer the rest you would need and the harder the interval the longer the rest.
Everyone is different though and i think you need to build up when doing intervals, build up both time and speed and because of your calf you need to be careful. so I suppose what I am saying is that you have made a good start but need to build on that and not stick there.

That makes sense. That damn calf is a problem, esp as it was caused by an interval session back in April!
I will experiement a bit more with it on the treadmill, see what happens.
I'm happy to have built up to a 30 min session in the couple of weeks I've had it for.
sub 70% on the streets this morning, goign to try try and push the pace a tiny bit to see what sticking around 143-145 does to the pace.

Oh, BTW took my RHR this morning, (usually do it when the baby has woken me in the night as it is easier to get back to sleep!)
Saw 53 before I drifted off. Have been using 54 since FLM, but took it recently and it was 64! 2 days later I had a sore throat.
