After another positive PB run in Manchester on Sunday I've booked up for Chester in October, target is getting under 3.05 ahead of a sub 3 attempt at London in 2017 as I now have GFA time.

Had a dreadful run on Sunday after being ill - luckily we took one look at the bag drop and hid ours behind a a skip, or we would have been waiting for hours! My fourth time running it and I thought there cricket ground didn't really have the space to accommodate the race in the same way that the football stadium did. I agree with Nelly's comment (about a gazillion pages ago!) that there seemed to be less bands/choirs than last year, although the section about at about 21 miles where they had speakers all down the road playing music was a good addition as I always struggle at that section. I've seen race organisation from the organiser's side, so have some sympathy for them, but I think some of the problems, like the mile markers could have been avoided with better planning.

For anybody with more money than sense (£30 to download all your photos!) the official photos are starting to emerge on www.finisherpix.com (but be warned the website is very slow, probably because it's lunchtime, so everyone is checking at work?).

Sometimes things go wrong that are beyond your control - we organise a race every year, this year we'd booked our venue well in advance of the race, only to arrive on the morning of the race to find that the venue's owners had let out most of the car park to another event, without telling us! Absolutely not our fault, but there was also noting we could do about it, we did our best to direct runners to alternative parking, and I didn't hear of any complaints, but I'm sure some people would have been disappointed by the added stress/inconvenience caused. We have made sure we specifically booked the car park as well as the venue for next year's race!

Nelly, thanks for the link. I'm in the yellow vest and blue cap around 7:20 with Dave just a few paces back, if I'm not very much mistaken. So that times the video as starting close to 1:20 race time

Jda, I'd correctly picked out Dave, so I don't know where my 6mins came from(?). Yeah your 1:20 estimate is bang on (the first number I can make out is #5736 and he had a chip split of 1:19:42 at halfway). So the first video cover 1:20 to 1:50 halfway (gun time), and I think the second video must have followed on fairly close on afterwards (although it's difficult to be sure because the results only include chip time). |

Hi all. I've been lurking here quietly for a while, reading everyone's comments since running on Sunday, and wondered if anyone can tell me what the Category 'OVR' means. The results page shows a category of "OVR" for the top 10 male and female finishers. Is it as simple as "Overall" (i.e. their age category is considered insignificant in light of their top-ten finish) or are these runners marked with the mysterious "OVR" category before they even toed the line? Thanks for any insight! Cheers, Fergus. |
