Noticed a few comments with the mileage signs being out of place. The same happened last year with the 1 mile marker being at 1k as well so they aren't learning on that front.

Can I add another vote for Chester.
Organised by runners, for runners
Chris and Andy but a lot into making sure the 1/2 in May and the duel event of metric and full Mara in Oct are everything you could ask for.
About the only 2 things they don't garauntee are the weather and 'pb's'

Oh and to anyone doing the 1/2 in May.
The children/babies pics on the mile markers all started off life on the NNU where I work.
We're the 'named' charity for the event which is why you'll see 'babygrow' banners and tops around.

The 1 mile marker wasn't at 1km, it had spun round its lamp post on the out and back section! So it *was* at 1 mile, but by coincidence it also happened to be at 1km on the way out!
Another vote for Chester. Great race and the potential for good times (it's my 3rd fastest mara after 2 Londons, Manc was my 4th fastest).

The only way I found the start was to follow everyone else then find the pace setters and that was the only way you knew where to stand, wasn't sure if that big sign was the start line or not

Just to show no-one gets all of it right all of the time, we did Chester half a couple of years ago. Plan was to use one of the organised and recommended park and rides, we turned up in time only to find it full and we were waved away with no alternative plan or help in place. Fortunately I know Chester well enough and we managed to dump the car in a residential area and walk to the start, but it was a stressful half hour. Race itself went ok, but then again, so did Manchester for me.

I've written a long, detailed, polite complaint email so interested to see what response, if any, I receive

from a purely selfish point of view I'm kind of glad that they had all those issues this year...I had to defer my run as I was working at the weekend. I'm hoping the race organisers learn a lot from this years issues and that when I run it next year, all the issues will of been resolved and the race will be slicker than lubricated eel. ;O)

You are probably right SOD. They got away with the 2012 fiasco as it was the first year the race was back and things seemed to improve massively over the next couple of years.
Folks will be a lot more unforgiving if the shambles of Sunday is repeated anytime soon so the organisers will know that they are in the last chance saloon. Just hope that the glorious weather of this year is repeated
