Surely, respectively to their bullet points:
- No chance, you're having a laugh
- Maybe, case by case
- You owe VLM one
- "Invented" extrapolated times like this are a terrible idea, I hope that doesn't go very much further.

It's good they aren't just going to ground. It would be nice to see the question addressed of what they did do after the 2013 race, and then the 2013 & 2014 races, when suspicions were already being raised.
Maybe they constanly badgered AUKCM, and kept getting the brush-off? If so, I would have expected to see them saying that explicitly.

Unfortunate TOTP, bullet points c&p-ed here (empathetic forum posting 101)

• We are working to see if the results from the Greater Manchester Marathons for 2013, 2014 and 2015 can still be included in records such as the Power of 10;
• We are working with other event organisers to see if your results from the 2015 event can qualify you for these respective events;
• We are aware that Virgin Money London Marathon has accepted GFA results from 2015 for qualification for the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon; and
• We are working with our race result service providers to provide you with an updated set of results which will show your full distance time by using your average time over the final split.

Agree that invented times is a poor idea. Adjustments for GFA and race qualification is another thing, equating different length races to a performance standard is fair enough, but making up a time for a hypothetical course they didn't run is a bit silly. Maybe they could help estimate what time people might have taken for the extra 380m (not everyone is good at maths) but don't invent results for races that didn't happen!

PtB, Agreed x 4 to your bullet points.

I'm not convinced we'll ever find out the full story... but it appears obvious to me that the organisers "stuck their heads in the sand" regarding any suspicions the course may be short from 2013 to 2015. To a certain extent that is understandable, given AUKCM are the only people in the UK to provide the course distance accreditation BUT given the weight of numbers of suspicions, and especially when you see one of the winners only ran 25.7miles, then I believe they should have considered having the course (fully) re-measured (rather than the interim certifications in 2014/15 for minor changes in road layouts etc that were undertaken).

And before somebody accuses me of undue bias in my statement ""To a certain extent that is understandable, given AUKCM are the only people in the UK to provide the course distance accreditation..."", according to AUKCM's previous investigations (http://coursemeasurement.org.uk/investigations/index.php) it appears this is the first time that an error on their part has caused a short measurement.

The AUKCM have also published the Minutes of their 10 October 2015 meeting (not sure if these were available on their site earlier - I don't recall seeing them), with a couple of references to Manchester queries.

"Manchester Marathon initially blamed the
measurement for his course being short but as he has gone quiet about that I believe I
can safely say the has realised HIS errors."
