Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I'm waiting for Stafford Half to be declared short, everyone I look at on strava has it at 13.0 miles. Hope not of course as I royally smashed my pb there.

Laser rangefinders are a few quid on amazon these days. Cheaper than a decent bicycle, that's for sure. It's (presumably) not the counting of wheel revs that is the issue, but the calibration and use is demonstrably problematic.

But the experience and skill to not introduce human error to proceedings is where the cost is generated

jda, I don't think either the calibration or use of bicycle measurement are "demonstrably problematic". I agree with Stuart, it's human error that is the issue here. The introduction of laser measuering devices isn't going to change that. Remember all of these issues come back to one measurement with a steel tape measure being incorrectly marked out.

(That should have said updated times for previous years, obviously not for 2016, which was unaffected)

Anyone else had an email from Xtra Mile Events regarding their time at a previous "short " course ?

I just got emailed about my 2014 time and was told that my 3:03:18 was the equivalent ( based on my pace in the last 6 miles ) to a 3:05:00

Not sure what that actually means ? Will that time now show on Po10 as a full distance time ?

No Nelly, the calibration is part of the problem (that wouldn't arise at all with another method) but there's cleally something else wrong - and no-one seems to have any clue what that is - as the total error is double the calibration error.
