Jenny - I'm pretty sure there is an "issue" with the automatically generated emails, resulting in the emails giving erroneous data... After a bit of digging around, I've found you can still look up your official splits for the 2013 race on stuweb.co.uk According to their website, your 2013 race info is:- Chip Time = 4:43:34 (which matches your Fetch time :-)) 20mi to finish = 1:07:08 = 11:13min/mile (if you divide by 6.219miles-380m) Extra 380m at this pace = 2:39 Revised Time = 4:46:13 This revised time matches your time shown in the spreadsheet containing the "adjusted times" you can download here greatermanchestermarathon.com I've no idea what time your email says, but I'm guessing it is not that?!? An interesting point is that the method they have used assumes the 20-mile chip mat was correctly placed, but the AUKCM comment makes it clear they believe the error was cumulative over the full distance. Therefore, I believe the chip mat was more than likely placed at 20miles-20/26.219*380m=19.820miles. Having said that, if you adjust the above calculations for this new distance it only makes a matter of seconds difference, e.g. Jenny's more accurately adjusted time would be 4:46:11. |

email told me they had added on 5mins but website posted by nelly shows an add on of 3mins to my chip time - still seems high to me my rough calculation based on my pace is just less than 2 mins to be added on! in other news looks like we don't actually have any real PBs if we race in the NW ... manchestereveningnews.co.uk |

I got a reply to the email id sent which just said the time they'd originally emailed to me was 'unofficial' and then copied and pasted the stuff about how upset they are etc! Distinctly unhelpful. I'd be more than happy to accept 4:46:13 - much more realistic, even though I *think* I just uploaded my garmin to Fetch, I can't actually remember whether I manually altered the distance to show 26.2 and I might have done. Sadly these ridiculous emails are adding insult to injury! |

They added 8mins 20 secs for my 'missing' segment. Considering I got a PB (obviously doesn't count now) and I sprinted the last 200m, I fail to see how it would take me that long to do 380m.

Pato - looking at the file it seems to me they've only added 1min55secs to your time? (unless the linked file has been updated since your post) Vixx - As I said in my post above to Jenny, I think there is an "issue" with the automatically generated emails (i.e. the emails are wrong). If you check the "2013 to 2015 results with adjusted times to reflect the full distance" file on this page greatermanchestermarathon.com they've added 3mins13sec to your finish time, which is consistent with your pace from 20miles to the end taken from the results/splits for 2013 on the Stuweb website (also linked in my post above). |

Thanks for all your detective work Nelly - I think you should go and work for XMile and show them how to do things! Andi Jones has just realised he hasn't ever won a marathon. He seems quite magnanimous about it though and says it's obviously an unfortunate mistake. Which it is of course. (He's in Qatar now and doing some triathlon these days) |

I'd love to be involved in the organisation of such an event, I'm just not sure finances would allow me to! Whenever I've heard Andi talk in the past he's always struck me as a nice guy, and having just found his post it only backs that up. There's some great comments on that thread:- "I'm sure the issue will be sorted out and I'm also sure the people behind measuring courses didn't set out to measure a short course." "Those guys take a very small fee for a very tricky, time consuming job. They seldom get the thanks that they deserve. They measure races that give us great pleasure, including Parkruns. Very much unseen heroes of running." "I have seen the race measuring process and anyone who takes the time to certify courses are doing it for the love of sport and not the financial gains." |

You could be a consultant Yes, Andi is lovely. I've known him for a while as his wife used to be in Sale Harriers, my old club.
