I can't make up my mind whether to follow this or not. It is a plan for me to try and see more live music as I've hardly seen any in the last *cough* years. I recently went to see Turin Brakes which I enjoyed. I have tickets for Chvrches in Feb which I am really looking forward to.
My reservation with following this thread is that I am unlikely to be able to see any of the bands the rest of you can without travelling quite far. I suspect I will get frustrated.

I saw The Skints earlier this year supporting NOFX, having previously seen them at Reading Festival a few years back. I was unimpressed back then, but what an improvement! I bought all their CDs the following day (Yes, I still buy CDs )

Well... I didn't buy all their CDs, that would have been impossible, just one copy of each release.

NOFX, there's a blast from the past!! Saw them at Reading in 1995!! It was an iconic line up that year, but only saw about 5 bands because I spent most of the time drunk by my tent

I went to Reading most years it was on 1981-1990 (quite easy as I live here) but by '95 I had kids of 2 & 3 years old so festival attending was out! Would have loved to have seen NOFX back then, I go at least once every time they are over now.

I was 18 in 1995, and clearly too stupid to appreciate what was on offer!! Think they'd be a bit too full on for me these days. Used to love all that punk / hardcore stuff - Pennywise, Rancid, Descendants, Sick of it All etc. Never seen any of them live though.

Half pint... I had similar thoughts, although you'll have to travel further than me. But I decided to follow to discover new bands and then see if they come anywhere near here!

I still very much enjoy that sort of stuff, the Lock Up tent at Reading in recent years has been excellent for it. Saw the Descendents there a few years back whilst the tent was almost empty as Foo Fighters were on the main stage. A personal highlight was Star Fucking Hipsters before they sort of imploded, very pleased I managed to catch them!

The Scribbler
Great thread! I realised that I'm in danger of losing track of gigs I've been to this year, so made a quick list. Will have to check my ticket stubs as I'm sure I've missed a few:
Kodo drummers Nils Frahm
Belle and Sebastian
Grandmaster Flash Baloji The Feeling U2 Afro Celt Sound system
Still to come - The Unthanks and Divine Comedy before the end of the year.
We have pretty varied tastes here in the Scribbler household, love live music and have some awesome local venues.

That's some list! What's your favourite local venue?
I think round these parts mine is probably Brudenell Social Club.
