That's not great. I did have a look at whether you can set limits in the app to help with this type of thing but you can't.

I had no race till the other day. Are you just getting back into running? I didn't look at it when I came back from my foot injury in late October (6 weeks no running, I actually turned training status off till 1 Jan) but that would make sense.

I get a notification on my phone instantly every time a curve transaction is logged (whether done via my phone, the card itself, via a standing payment e.g. ebay or via my watch). I've had maybe 4 years of zero fraud.

Ultimately it is just a debit card like every other one, and the possibility of fraud should be just as likely as any other card.

The customer service though is a big differentiator between banks / card brands so it does sound pretty poor from your experience. My experience has been different, though the only times I've needed their CS is when the Curve card has been refused for no good reason. They've always sorted that out promptly.

That's crap NE. Although it would only need one compromised retailer to acquire the card details. I've been considering a Starling account rather than Curve as the Curve free package keeps getting reduced. This is another nudge in that direction.

That’s bad news NE. I’ve had a Santander bank account for years, so I’ve just linked my Garmin to that, and it has come in handy the few times I’ve needed to use the loo, get a drink/snack, or catch a bus etc, when out running and have no phone with me.

Starling is a great bank I use mine abroad all the time there are no charges. They are great. I got pick pocketed in Berlin and within an hour they’d replaced my card in my Apple wallet. You can instantly message them when there’s a problem.

Yes, I always received notifications about transactions, but didn't for these. I used the card for nearly everything and perhaps put too much faith in it, I think I'd have carried on with it had it not been for the dreadful (non existent) customer service.

That's interesting about the absence of notifications. Have always assumed they are a solid early warning as I don't frequently check my transactions. Will pay a little more attention!!

I get the notification as well. Odd that there was no notification for these. I wonder if it's configurable which would mean the hackers got in and changed things before starting to spend.
