Right. Fair enough. I'm already wondering how clever this algorithm is and suspecting the truth is "not very".

I'm pathetically pleased with myself on the rare occasion that I score a few Anaerobic points.

I thought I’d get some today as I had a nod in the anaerobic training effect

But nope not enough

I doubt if I could get an anaerobic training effect from running these days. I'm curious about how it reacts when I get later in the Rowing plan and start sprinkling in the speedwork.

Most of the very small numbers of Anaerobic points I've had have been from the bike, either cycling uphill or doing efforts and recoveries on the turbo.

Sigh
Nellers wrote:So that's still really just saying "This is the ideal general balance and you ain't hitting it, son." rather than tailoring it to an individual's aims? Are you following a Garmin plan at the mo, @Sigh ? Or doing your own thing?

I'm doing my own thing, having taken an indefinite break from racing almost two years ago. "Training" consists of 2-3 miles of dog walking every day, and occasional runs when the mood takes me.

The only time I've seen training balance shift is when it's race week and the split it wants is slightly different to taper for a race. I haven't bothered putting my race in for this weekend but I may do that to see if I can get some before and after shots.

Is it saying your walks are high aerobic? If so, are they? And if they aren't, is you max HR and LT HR something reasonable in the watch?

For me the bandings it shows on the Training Focus screen are pretty much exactly what I'd expect to see based on the training I've been doing. The HR zones are (more or less) what I'd expect them to be and I guess the LT that it estimates is as accurate as anything I could offer given that I'm not going to pay for a lab test.

I'd have thought it would be fairly simple, though, for the "optimal zone"s to be adjusted if you were following a Garmin Coach plan for a specific event. Seems daft that the two elements of the system don't link up.

I can't see that mine has changed after adding my race this time so either it might update overnight or there's no change this time. The times it changed, I was probably optimal or above on everything whereas I'm currently blowing through low aerobic but a shortage on every else.
