Just read an article suggesting the LT detection issues I've noticed is a known bug. I've definitely done enough high effort chest strap runs since November for it to have detected a new one since then.

I can't log in on the Garmin Connect website and the app is also giving me error messages. Anyone else with issues?

Maybe we could put Garmin outage detector in the sidebar, or pin this post downdetector.com

Comment on another thread reminded me about this question I wanted to ask about Runalyze. Is there a way to auto exclude some runs from the VO2 Max calculation? Anything interval like means poor calcs, but don't really want to have to click on all the runs I want to exclude.

I suspect it will be manual only, but I've posted the question on the r/Runalye subreddit where they tend to reply pretty swifty. I use the "trail run" on Garmin quite a bit to achieve the same for the Garmin VO2Max data, but not really thought about the Runalyze data set as I feel their VO2Max estimates are a bit less well engineered. Though mainly I don't like the fact that they are lower |

Thanks might join that. The issue with Runalyze is only works for steady/ progressive runs as the measurement is for the whole run (you can see the measurement each interval in laps). Garmin can take the VO2 max measurement from a section of the run. It would be nice if it auto recognised runs that would give poor data.

P.S my Runalyze has generally been higher even with the intervals included (pre race correction) but with race correction that changes and with intervals it's almost 9 points lower currently.

Just joined and looks like you were right about a quick response. Promising that they're looking at something similar to Garmin. Making sure it doesn't overestimate will be the challenge there I think.

There is the "time constant length for effective VO2Max" setting, but I don't know what that actually does. I suspect it is the setting for ignoring activities shorter than a specific length in seconds (e.g. my strides from last Friday had no runalyze VO2Max data against them as each one was about 21s long). I did intervals last night and the reps came out about 68-70 which is utter nonsense of course, though because I do jogging recoveries which I include in the run I suppose the averaging of the high values for reps is offset by the low value for recoveries. |
