My 7 has not really dialled in on my metrics yet. vo2max and so on.
Gave me some strange lactate detections also, so ivยดe gone over to MHR instead of lactate threshold for a while.
But its expected, it will get to know me in a few weeks i think.

The stamina chart looked strange there, but it will probably sort it self out Quimby.

Might be different for the higher models but the productivity thing is simply about VO2 max on lower models so if the run has any portion that it can measure VO2 max from (used to be 10 mins above 70% max but pretty sure it's less now) and it rises, it will say training is productive. Unproductive basically means it's dropping.

You'd think the higher models would look at what's happening at threshold which is more important than VO2 Max for a lot of endurance running but not seen any evidence that they do.

This article seems to give some rationale for it all. But ultimately, as SPR says, it's the movements in the VO2Max metric (which can be pretty sensitive to things like how hilly a chosen route is, or what the headwind is like) which are pretty influential on the way it moves. I *think* movements in VO2Max in decimal places influence this too, which won't be immediately visible on the watch itself (one of the reasons I use Runalyze alongside Fetch / strava / Garmin Connect / Intervals.icu :-) )

Good article Larkim, I had forgotten the training load coming into it as well. It would basically always say early base training is unproductive assuming it can measure VO2 max in those runs (increased load = more fatigue and lower VO2 max at least initially)
