Garmin sends the data to Fetch, It also has some interesting stuff for your runs as well TBF, depending on the watch you have. There's also the 24/7 stuff (HR, Sleep, etc) againg dependent on device. |

Aaah. If you mean data via an app, then yes, that would be great. We use GadgetBridge to connect to a cheap smartwatch gadgetbridge.org If we could do that with a Garmin, we would probably go back. |

I had a 910xt for 7 years which always requires a laptop data transfer. I bought a fancy one which syncs via my phone but now have to get the laptop out again. First world problems though...

I mean an app that does what the Connect app does (only better and ideally not caring about an internet connection when it connects to the watch either by Bluetooth or WiFi) - I don't mean something that lets you manually upload as this already exists in lots of places. It is interesting to contemplate whether the the automatic aspect would contravene some kind of IP when the manual ones don't seem to.

COFH - Yeah. You finish run, go inside and the run goes to Garmin and everywhere else without you having to do anything. I was on a standard Ironman Timex (so manual logging) till circa 2015 so have only ever had garmins that could auto log runs. |

Saint - "I mean an app that does what the Connect app does (only better and ideally not caring about an internet connection when it connects to the watch either by Bluetooth or WiFi)" I thought that's what you were getting at. That's where I think Garmin won't build a device that would allow other apps to talk to your watch (it is possible though). The internet bit is the the killer IMO though. No internet would mean it would need to store local copies on your phone and internet and servers would still be needed to eventually get it sent to whatever sites it needed to go to. |

This is what GadgetBridge does. Snaffles all the data and stores all the activity data on the phone, with the usual graphing etc... Like a low resolution version of the Connect app. Steps, heart rate, sleep etc. Unfortunately, the devices it works with is limited. Each one needing reverse engineering. Would love to see this for a decent GPS watch. |

Sounds like what Saint wants. Just the sending on bit missing.
