Have never really been taken by any of the Flanci stuff until the paddleboarding skort was pointed out to me

I prefer the more abstract colourful designs and was really surprised to love wearing Flanci skorts as you’ll never see me in a short skirt but I love shorts. I’m feeling back to normal today. Managed to get out for a drive and a walk yesterday and had 3 normal but light meals. My tummy was still a bit cramped and uncomfortable after eating though. I’m sad to have missed my local race and the best of the weather, but pleased to have recovered quickly. I’ve lost a bit of weight, understandably, but not so much out of the range that I have been losing recently. So that’s good too. About 1kg down for March, with a holiday at the beginning. I haven’t been tempted by any of the Easter treats, other than one hot cross bun. But we have been gifted a small 96g chocolate egg each. One of the things I do like is a good hot chocolate. I don’t drink tea or coffee, so it used to be my daily hot drink until I looked at the calorie content. I drink Green and Blacks with semi skimmed milk and made up that can be over 700 calories! Which if I’m aiming for around 1500 per day, makes it practically a meal replacement. I had one with slightly less powder yesterday and today as that was what I really wanted after feeling unwell. Now I’m not sure whether to keep it as a treat - like having a cake or bar of chocolate. Or to look for a low calorie alternative. It’s sugar and processed - so that makes me feel like I should just cut it out if I can. But it is a bit of a comfort blanket. |

RevG - well done re the weight loss .. The Scribbler - glad to hear you're feeling better and well done too re the recent weight loss. I've been out for an early walk this morning and it was lovely and quiet at 7:15am with everyone having a day off work. But plan to take it easy for the rest of the day. Warning - <rant mode> We had my partner's son and family here so spent hours preparing lunch (roast lamb) and 'entertaining' them. Not that we had to do too much - the granddaughter's had their noses in their phones the whole time, apart from the easter egg hunt. And their Mum was just as bad - hardly said anything, looked at her phone the majority of the time and couldn't seem to wait to get away. She's often like this and seems to take affront at being expected to turn up for a meal and be sociable with us. It's just as bad when we go to see them and her Mum and Dad are there too - she and her parents ignore us and talk amongst themselves. Anyway, I was glad to see the back of the miserable f*****g woman - I don't know why she doesn't just stay at home. <end of rant> We now have some easter eggs to plough through but I'll 'pace' myself and take my time eating them. I'm able to do that sometimes .. it was only yesterday evening, after we'd cleared up, I finished off my xmas bottle of Bailey's |

WtnMel that is annoying - folk and their phones I’ve lost 0.2 kg this week, which is not bad, as we have had family staying this weekend, which meant puddings, ice cream and of course chocolate eggs. |

I feel your pain my brother & sister in law are like that. We rarely all get together but when we do they’re in their phones the whole time. They wind me up my mam will cook a meal and they sit in other room on phones, eat the meal, back on phones while I help parents prepare meal and clear up. We sit down and they announce they’re going. Boils my blood. We stay have some drinks and a chill and enjoy precious time with them. Glad you’re feeling better Scribbs and a bonus of some weight loss. I’d never wear a short skirt but the skorts are fabulous I wear them all the time. We were going out for food today for our bank holiday treat but we’ve cancelled. I am not in any fit state to enjoy a nice meal. Hopefully we can reschedule next weekend. Esp if I get packing sorted this week. Oh I made a pork loin joint in the airfryer last night. WOW I normally find it very dry so avoid it but it was on offer in Aldi so I thought I’ll give it a go. I steam roast with the probe in which cooks it to the right temperature. We had potatoes and onions/carrots in the bottom. When done took onions, carrots & liquid to make into gravy and the potatoes and pork in airfry for 20min. The meat was succulent and so soft. Super tasty too. |

TheScribbler - good you're feeling OK now. That's an eye-watering amount of calories for a hot chocolate. Definitely will have to be kept as a special treat. But worth continuing to find a lighter replacement that you like. WtnMel - that was definitely worth a rant, I would be fuming too at the bad manners of your guests. Hibeedeb - impressive weight loss with the puddings and Easter eggs. Geordiegirl - sorry you're still not 100%. But well enough to enjoy that pork, sounds delicious. I love my air fryer and use it a lot, I bought a meat thermometer so I can get the cooking time right. Running rest day today for me. Pilates class followed by Stretch class, I find both fairly challenging but good. |

Gym for me this morning, and I tried a new trick - used my earbuds, and listened to a podcast. The workout flew by, and I’m sure I did more reps of some things, because I basically just kept going on each exercise until the muscles felt tired. I listened to The Fasting Method podcast - and there are over 140 episodes to catch up on! Now then - there is something going on with my blood glucose. I had a load of mini eggs about 9pm last night - and although my BG went up, it wasn’t horrendous and came down to normalish by bed time. Overnight it was bobbling around within or close to the normal fasting range. Actually it’s been like that the last few nights. We went out for a drive, visited one of our frequent haunt cafes, and had our old faithful of sausage sandwich and bacon sandwich, going halves. Although I left some of the bread, I probably ate a slice and a half, which is more bread than I’ve eaten in ages. Expected, and was willing to accept, that my BG would shoot up. But it peaked at not much over 8. So there is one of two things going on: option one is that there has been a significant step forward in moving my diabetes towards remission; a good chunk of the ectopic fat has departed from my liver, which would account for the near-normal fasting levels, AND, a proportion of my pancreatic beta cells, having had some of the fat removed from around them, have started to wake up and secrete insulin again, so I am better able to cope with a carbohydrate load. Option 2 is that the glucose sensor I put on last Thursday is reading low…. Time will tell which it is. |

RevB - I do hope it's option one. You so deserve it to be. I guess you'll find out when it's time to change your glucose sensor |

RevG - can't remember if I mentioned before that my new hearing aids have Bluetooth. So I can listen to podcasts on them. I also used them in York last year to listen to Google giving me walking directions - worked a treat. Re the conversation about leggings, skorts etc. my friend (known on here as Plodding Hippo) loves snazzy leggings .. the snazzier, the better. Going back to my rant, the only time the DIL is sociable is when she's had a glass or two of wine. But I'm buggered if I'm going to waste wine on her, given her attitude. We only keep quiet because otherwise, we would never see the granddaughters. |
