Good evening! Just remembered this, and that I haven't blogged yet either!

Just popping in to say that in theory, we should hear today from the London Marathon about our one allocated spot in the event (they promised it would happen by the end of November, and we're all out of working days). As soon as I hear something, I will email all registered first-claim members with the usual details of how to put your name forward if interested. |

Thank you, Fetch. LME advised me this week that only boroughs that host sections of the course will have a few places for their staff. Previously, the remaining London boroughs had about 4-6 balloted places but this has been discontinued. |

I've always wondered how their ever-presents get in. If I did it year after year, I'm sure any sponsorship and donations would have all but dried up years ago so I doubt it's via a charity. Having previously got in on the old 'five rejections and you're in next year' scheme, you realistically had something to look forward to. If there are too many elites, I am surprised they don't consider asking some (say men who will finish between 2:15 - 2:25) to run in Brighton instead. They would probably have a better chance of getting a podium and winning prize money that way. |

Ever-presents get an automatic place as far as I know. Given that there aren’t that many of them it doesn’t really impact overall numbers. They also get VIP treatment in the build up and on the day. |

I'm an ever-present in Brighton so I hope London Marathon Events adopt that policy to their 'adopted child.'

We were allocated 1 place for ~50 volunteers. My name came out of the hat on Wednesday... so hopefully see some of you on course.
