I was wondering what you were talking about with Andy's accent, even though I'm not to the manor born. Must have finally gone native Great interview. Lovely to hear from ElsieToo - I'm really impressed with your family's lockdown fitness.
Don't be too impressed Scribbler - it is outdone by the amount of cake we are eating and the size of our waist bands - I've had to order new clothes in a larger size as nothing fits anymore - but I'm not giving up eating nice things - what else is there?
I've been a bit busy of late (very long and depressing story) but caught up on the last two podcasts on todays ride and they were a very welcome distraction. Also, I heard dog breathing before it was mentioned and thought I was going crazy so thanks for mentioning that!
I enjoyed listening to the podcast today. I can’t really remember running with anything very strange.
I did do a race where I ended up with three pound coins in my hand at the start. I think they must have been the change from my entry. I thought they’d be okay in the pocket of my shorts, but they were really annoying so at held them in my hand until that got really annoying. The race was along a bridle way. I waited until we got to a gate and dropped the coins next to the wall. I went back at the end of the race, as part of my cool down, and retrieved them.
I once had to run about 6 miles with some shopping in a rucksack. I hadn’t planned it but some rail troubles meant that I couldn’t get the train to the station 3 minutes walk from my house. Instead, I had to get the train that stopped about 6 miles away and run home. The bread and milk were not too bad, but I can confirm that grapes do not respond well to 6 miles of jiggling.
My claim to fame for running with something was fir the 2012 Olympics when our small running club was invited by a bigger local club to join in carrying the Olympic Torch and Flag. They invited us to run the leg from Dover seafront to the top of the cliffs (very kind of them). So yes I have run carrying the Olympic Torch and Flag
