There are rare occasions when promoting to a knight is best, due to it forking the opposing king and queen for example. More often found in puzzles than reality!

Jules, I've just played a game against a computer and WON. I used the ladder technique with my 2 queens (I made sure promoting a pawn to a queen would be safe) to make their King move down the board and I kept one of their pawns, even though it was an easy take, so they had an alternative move to make.
It's quite thrilling to see it all fall into place, instead of my usual move a piece and hope for the best Thank you so much for your tutoring.

I beat the snowman bot in two moves the other day 😂 Usually I’m chasing pieces around but can eventually beat the lower ranked bots

Ah. Snow. Who’d have thought it on a chess thread.

Goofee - I was proud of my play to get that Stalemate - probably the last game where I played well

You did well!
I've been trying some bullet chess, good grief I'm bad! The only game I've won is because the opponents connection went down for about a minute.
