The fixed island bed is such an asset in ours - it feels a bit luxurious tbh.

There are pop-tops and there are pop-tops. Make sure it's got a decent one, you lose a lot of structural rigidity when you cut the roof out a van so the better ones do add a degree of reinforcement. There's a company in Cornwall that retro-fits genuine California pop-tops to T5s/T6s, this is a very expensive option but it's about as good as they get in terms of a pop-top.

We are very lucky that we have a very highly recommended company locally. Its one of the reason I didn't want to have one - messing with a van, the noise etc. But having seen a few, and OH being 6 ft 3 it would be good.

Mandy, 2 litre diesel 102 bhp. Worried that the 102 is a bit low though.

Won't get the chance to see it until after lockdown unfortunately.

You could always map it Ronnie, those 2.0 TDi engines are very amenable to tuning.

We have the same model, had it remapped and its a different van. Never been more happier with a vehicle we have owned, love driving it.

Ours is a 2.0 diesel 102bhp. It's not the most powerful or responsive drive in the world, but then I'm trying to adopt the outlook that the travelling is as leisurely and relaxing as the being there.

(And if I do need to change down and put my foot to the floor, it helps to prevent that annoying orange VW emissions warning light from lighting up on the dashboard display.)
