Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Approaching the end of a week away here in Cornwall. We stayed at two CLs, both really nice.

First was near Port Isaac, which is a great fishing village. We had tea and cake, and got fresh crab from the market and ate that on the harbour wall. Also we had a walk around Rock, caught the ferry to Padstow and enjoyed the beaches around there a lot. Rick Stein is everywhere though, but can be avoided if you walk away from the town.

Second one we stayed near Trelissick, and I got around the parkrun there yesterday. Cafe was very good, too :)

Nothing else planned currently but hoping to get a couple more trips away in this year, if we can.

Lovely site with a fantastic garden, and also a couple of small fields to run the dog.

It’s really stunning. There’s a loo and shower as well. £15pn, but she has hinted she needs to put it up. She’s been doing it about 40 years, apparently.

Just before travelling to France with the caravan, I renewed the car insurance and added Europe-wide breakdown cover for an extra £100ish.

I broke down - the power steering pump is dead.

So far the French breakdown assistance have picked up the bill for

- recovery of car to garage
- recovery of caravan to garage the next day
- taxi from the garage to the hotel
- 5 night's hotel stay
- taxi from hotel to Geneva airport
- flight from Geneva to Manchester
- taxi from Manchester to home

They are still going to have to pay to

- get me back to Manchester airport
- fly back to Geneva
- possibly another night in a hotel
- taxi to the garage

Then I get to drive the car and caravan home. The repair is scheduled to be complete by 30 September but I'm going to wait until the garage says it's finished before booking my return trip.

I think I definitely got value for my £100.

That was fortuitous, XB. I hope you get back on the road soon.

Lovely looking pitch, B_G.

We have started to look for a new house. Getting a drive big enough for a car, campervan + 1 space for a visitor is tricky. Harder still are the new builds as they mostly have covenants which don’t allow vans on the drive. Our current house has a long front drive with enough parking for at least 8 vehicles (including CVs), 12 if we changed the lawn to hard-standing.

We’ve had a fab week on Skye, walking, getting wet and generally getting away from it all.

Glenbrittle was definitely our favourite campsite with hot food very welcome on the wettest day of our trip. The locals were very friendly too.
