We’ve stayed a couple of times at Camping la Chênaie on the outskirts of Laon. It’s nice enough. We had a tent but it would definitely better suit van/moho as the pitches were very hard-packed and mostly dirt not grass. Shady, which was nice. Good toilet/shower block. Small shop/bar on site and quite close to supermarket.

We stayed a couple of nights each time as we transited through on our way to and from East France and Germany. Last visit was about 7 years ago so not up-to-date info.

One of the many benefits of caravan and motorhome club sites is they charge per person, so if you’re traveling alone, you pay accordingly. I’ve had a couple of really quiet nights at the Kendal site for £27, all in. There were only 20ish vans on a site that takes over 140.

We got our Dub dog Stan a couple of weeks ago and we're looking forward to lots more adventures in the van - although young Stan didn't look too sure about it on his first trip :-)

Looks nice Cath.

Got the van almost all packed - against the odds, since I've been ridiculously busy this week. Leaving for Orkney first thing tomorrow for 6 nights. Booked two internal ferries for a day trip to Hoy and also Sanday.

On another note - Forestry Scotland have expanded their stay the night scheme. I used one last year and it was fab. I notice this year they are not calling it a "trial" as they have the past two years, so that's promising.

Stan will love it.

We're taking George for his longest trip yet this week, so hoping he will be fine.

That’s good news, RR. When I looked recently, folks seemed to think it had been revoked. (My original plan for this week had been Scotland, but that shifted due to COVID in the house).

I’ve a Renault Trafic conversion, and there are windows down both sides (not panels), but the windows don’t open. I would like at least one window on one side (the kitchen side definitely) to be able to be opened. Has anyone made this change to their van, and is there any advice? I think you can get the kits online, and I’d need to look for a local firm who could fit it, but is there anything else to consider?
