Sorry, another question. For those with pets that like to go abroad in their van, is there any recent experience of how to go about doing that? We’re hoping to go to NI in May and I don’t think that will be a problem, but technically we can’t easily go to RofI with Tigg I don’t think. Also, when driving over to Netherlands from Dover we go through France and Belgium, which again looks to be a bit of a nightmare with a dog. Does anyone have any experience with this? We’ve been finding it a bit difficult to find a local vet willing to do the paperwork. |

Big_G GimmeMedals has pointed me here! Just to say, we use a vet at Folkestone when going to France. It’s an online service, very efficient, for £99. There’s a similar setup in Havant if travelling from Portsmouth. Fmail me if you want further details. Where abouts are you based? We have a local vet offering AHC for £84 (Bradford on Avon). There’s a Facebook page advertising cheap vets across the country, set up after folk were fed up with being charged up to £300 |

Alice the Camel, thanks. We’re in South Devon. Can I ask, in the scenario where we’d go France-Belgium-NL, would we need 3 lots of paperwork (one for each country)? I’ll have a look for that Facebook page, unless you have it to hand? Our previous dog had an EU passport, but I think even that is no good, as a British vet can’t sign it, I don’t think? (Our current dog doesn’t have an EU passport). |

Also, I’ve read that you don’t need anything for NI… so hopefully no problem with that one!

Big_G You just need one AHC to get into the EU, once there no need for any other paperwork. AbbeywellVets at Folkestone are very convenient for the Dover-Calais crossing, the one problem being you can’t pick the paperwork up before 10am so not easy for early crossings |

The AHC needs to be provided in the language of country of entry - French in your case.

Thanks for the info. Much appreciated! I found that Facebook group you mentioned and the Folkestone vet could work for us for the NL trips. I think there is nothing extra to do for NI, but I wasn’t sure about if we wanted to go into RofI from NI. I think technically we would need the paperwork for that, but could be wrong! I’ll have a better look around later. |

We haven't taken our dog abroad yet, but that may have to change if the current plans we are working on happen., so thanks for info Alice, handy to know if our vets don't do.
