I think there is nothing extra to do for NI, but I wasn’t sure about if we wanted to go into RofI from NI. I think technically we would need the paperwork for that, but could be wrong! I’ll have a better look around later. I can’t imagine for a minute that anyone that lives in NI has paperwork to take their dogs across the border? |

What if you lived in Strabane or Enniskillen and wanted to take a day trip for a picnic in Donegal? As an example.

AC, I don’t live in NI though, so according to this I do need the paperwork if I want to go over the border. citizensinformation.ie “If you are bringing a cat, dog or ferret from outside the EU (including the UK but not including Northern Ireland), you should follow the rules set out in ‘Cats, dogs and ferrets – non EU travel’ below” |

OK, yet another thing not thought about when they were painting Brexit slogans on the side of the bus. F@*kin idiots.

Yeah, you need to jump through the same hoops to go to ni as the eu. Very annoying. We got our dog from NI and there are no restrictions in that direction, so I often wonder if the little "darling" can go back. Usually when he's stolen my socks. |

It can also be quite expensive for the certificate from the vet, which you need every trip. Would be less annoying if it lasted 3 years.

RR, I think at the moment checks are suspended going from GB to NI, or vice versa. “On 15 September 2021, DAERA Minister Edwin Poots MLA announced that checks on all pet dogs, cats and ferrets travelling from GB to NI would be suspended indefinitely while negotiations between the UK government and EU continue” daera-ni.gov.uk But as someone who doesn’t reside in NI, paperwork for travel between NI and RofI is technically required, as in the link in my previous post. Whether checks are actually being done is a question, but personally I’m not sure I’d want to risk it. (I asked the question on a Facebook group and got a few different answers and there is quite a lot of confusion, but the official links I’ve mentioned above I am taking to be correct). To be honest, in my case, I was only going to go over to RofI for a day or two so I don’t think I’ll bother with the expense/risk and I’ll just stay in NI. But the vet Alice mentioned earlier will be useful for our trips to mainland Europe. |

Hope you're enjoying Orkney Ronnie. We had a night in the van in the car park of the village hall in Goathland. Great to wake up right next to registration for our race 😀. It snowed overnight but we were nice and cosy as we had many blankets. |

That's one of the many beauties of a camper, mrs s - being able to park near to race registration and gaining an extra hour in bed
