Saw a Kingfisher perched on a tree by the canal yesterday, in the fog it was rather dowdy.

Rooks are definitely back on their nests, and we've even got a few snowdrops. Definitely signs of spring!

I like the foggy kingfisher Chrisity.

Beautiful kingfisher picture. In contrast my most interesting spot was a pigeon managing to use the feeders! Don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Nice kingfisher. I've never seen one but there's one near where I live and trying to spot 200 species in one year might incentivise me to go looking.

Tally to date is 12 of 200, so there's a long way to go. I could have got a few others when my train went past Attenborough nature reserve but the train was going to quickly to be sure of identification. Fairly common things that I will be able to tick off later for sure though.

I am always surprised by how light birds are, the Kingfisher is perched on the thinnest of branches but it is not remotely bent (the branch that is, the sexuality of the Kingfisher is not my concern).

Fragile Do Not Bend
Black and white birds in the fields today, too distant to see clearly but I've definitely not seen or heard these birds near home before. The calls sounded familiar and made me think of shorelines.

I tried to commit the sounds to memory (I'm not good at this) and now I've looked in my book I think they are Lapwings. I didn't know they came so far inland.

Also msybe a shelduck. A bit far inland but very fleeting. Shot past me.
