Loads of spring activity on this morning's run. Even thought I heard a lark singing.

I think I forget to mention the two returning oystercatchers I saw from the car yesterday on a local reservoir ❤️

I've heard Skylarks lately.

Garden is really busy at the moment. Hearing the tawny owl regularly, woodpecker, loads of tree sparrows, treecreeper...

Tawny owls busy at the moment, and 3 separate barn owl sightings on Tuesday.

Forgive the poor (enlarged) photo and bird-ignorant question - but is this a lesser or great spotted woodpecker? I thought lessers were sparrow sized but it seems to have stripey wings which would suggest lesser.

Its drumming was much quieter than I usually hear from the great.

It took me ages to spot it on my dog walk this morning - the dog thought I'd gone mad standing in a soggy field looking up in a tree!

At times like this, I can't help wondering how David Cameron feels now about calling the referendum in order to deal with the problems inside the Conservative Party. How's it worked out, Dave?

LittleDonkeyDaisy - I can’t quite see, but did it have any red on its front? LSW don’t have the red lower belly that GSW do.
You’re in the right part of the country to see one so it is possible
