At times like this, I can't help wondering how David Cameron feels now about calling the referendum in order to deal with the problems inside the Conservative Party. How's it worked out, Dave? Great tit? Common loon? Masked booby? |

Lazy Daisy.... bit big for LSW in my opinion. LSW are very small . Quite "dead" in my part of the world and generally devoid of anything really interesting along my running routes since winter started. Small group of Chaffinches, a couple of Bullfinch and a singing Greenfinch today. A male Blackcap in my garden regularly. |

I thought it was too big and it did have a red breast, so I guess it's a GSW with misleading wings!

In Faro, Portugal and surrounded by white storks. Impressive birds and a first for me. I spotted a solitary swallow this morning which is making me long for their return home. |

Just spotted a bluetit in the garden with a red mass on the back of his neck. Not sure if it's a parasite or an injury. He looked perfectly healthy apart from that. Very active. Will call him Dave. I'll keep an eye out for him. |

After years of seeing buzzards only as we drove down the M1 to my parents’ home in Leicestershire we’ve seen a group of 7 on our walk this morning. Great to see them established round here.

Saw my first butterflies of the year yesterday, which seemed very early. First one was a brimstone, which was no great surprise, but the second was a dark one I didn't get a good enough view of to identify.

Avian Pox RunningRonnie? Saw about 6 Red Grouse near Barrow Door / Sail Pass in lakes today; seem to be getting more common over there. Plus a few Ravens, and the first frogspawn of the year for me. On the way home there were at least 3, and possibly 4 SEOs within a mile or so. Nice to see them active in decent light, even if it was from a moving car. |
