Hertford Tiger

There are a number of articles on this from a year or so ago. It appears Gull numbers are worryingly low at the moment

Hertford Tiger, thanks. That's worrying. But I can't think the food situation has changed so much in the one year that all the lesser black backed gulls which were here last year in large numbers have since starved (I certainly hope not). I suspect they must have moved on somewhere else.

When I have left over chips from the chippie I always put them out on the grass for the seagulls. They usually appear quite quickly.

I don't understand the concept of left over chips, alpenrose. :)

That is a good day. I'm jealous. They do seem to love those weird ornamental yellow (is it rowan?) berries that nothing else eats.

Highlight here was a return visit of the beautiful, small, female Sparrowhawk scaring everything from the garden feeders. Lots of Greenfinch about, many LTTs, and 2 GSWs trying to get on the fat block together. No Goldfinches, Siskin or Redpoll, which is odd for this time of year. Big flocks of the latter two feeding in the alder and birch, so maybe they don't need my niger seed.
