Heinzster, a bit of pedantry, if you don't mind... I suspect what you were spotting were meteors rather than meteorites. Meteors are the shooting stars. Meteorites are the remains of the larger ones that are sometimes found. If you managed to spot 3 of them, you were doing spectacularly well!

Driving from home yesterday and one of the fields had a lot of birds that I've not seen before. Blackbird or starling sized. Yellow chest. Spots on side. Grey-brown back. I wondered about some type of fieldfare or similar? Any ideas? |

Ronnie, my instinct is fieldfare, but the yellow chest isn't right. What were the light conditions like? Low angle bright sunlight can sometimes make colours look a bit odd.

Mid afternoon, so yeah low light. It was the yellow chest that confused me, else I'd have said fieldfare. At least 2 looked yellow. I'll go for a walk soon to see if there are any today. You might be right and just a trick of the light.
