Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Last night I saw curlew, meadow pipits and skylarks. No hen harrier sighting, sadly, but a couple of wood pigeons did briefly get my hopes up until I saw them properly.

Not a bird... but this landed on my specs on Tuesday, ate its snack, then flew away. I could hear it chewing, and even smell it!

Golden Ringed dragonfly, on the way up Ard Crags towards Buttermere.

HowFar?
A red squirrel has been calling at the bird feeder for a few days in a row. It stopped and ate some of the nuts at the feeder on the first day. This morning it just collected nuts and took them off, presumably to cache. It was certainly spreading them out. It bounded off in several different directions.

Unconfirmed reports of a bee eater in Avery Hill Park (home of Greenwich parkrun). I shall be keeping my eyes peeled!

Bee-eater? Amazing! I'm hoping to see the bee-eaters nesting at Trimingham in Norfolk at some point this weekend. Missed them last year, but some have clearly returned this year.

I’ve seen various bee-eaters in South Africa - they are glorious! Given the lack of twitchers flocking to the park I suspect someone misidentified the resident parakeets!
