I saw a hummingbird hawkmoth in the garden today. We don't get them every year this far north, and it seems early in the year.
I know it's not a bird.

My jackdaws fledged this morning - the magpies had them within an hour!

Fabulous 24 hours in Flamborough/Bempton area. The cliffs really are stunningly impressive. Best views of gannets I've ever had, huge numbers of guillemots, razorbills, rock doves, kittiwakes, small numbers of puffins. Lots of tree sparrows, reed buntings (in area without reeds), a couple of corn buntings, lots of meadow pipits, skylarks, swallows, house martins, whitethroats. Great area!

Nice J2R. Don't think I've ever seen a corn bunting.

Any shortage of puffins at Bempton Cliffs was more than made up for yesterday by a boat trip out to the Farne Isles. Puffins galore, along with guillemots, razorbills, kittiwakes, shags, and arctic, common and sandwich terns.
