Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I've seen third broods raised successfully, and in one year fail at the last minute after a couple of cold wet weeks in late August.

Spotted a blackbird, maybe female, maybe juvenile, trying to eat what turned out to be the most meagre sliver of chewing gum off the pavement at lunchtime. Is that really a thing? Found it quite disheartening.

Yes. That’s what I hoped was happening. It was certainly gone when I went past the other way anyway.

Don't know what's going on this morning, have been sitting having my morning cuppa in the sunroom and there have been three birds trying to kill themselves by flying into the glass doors: one baby blue tit, one chaffinch and one young swallow. The swallow is sitting on the patio looking a bit stunned.

Sadly, since we moved here I've had to collect the bodies of a number of dead birds 😕

NE you may need to put something on or in front of the glass to show the birds they cannot go through.
