Sand Martins and Common Sandpiper along the river today. Grey Wags and Dipper, and a couple of small tortoiseshell butterflies.
Pleasant sunshine after a full day of rain yesterday.

Pheasant in the middle (ish!) of town today. Not what I expected to see, though it's not bizarrely the first time.

Low-flying greenie on country lane today. I had to slow the car right down so it didn’t fly into it. Car is bright red too, so hopefully that helped the pecker change it’s course … finally!

I went for a walk at Keyhaven yesterday, Merlin helped identify blackcap and cettis for me, I may actually learn some birds with a bit of perceverance. Also saw some sand martins and swallows swooping about.

No yellowhammer on my run yesterday, but a gazillion skylarks singing 😍, a swallow and the most stunning Reed Bunting 😀

Stopped off briefly at Middleton Lakes on the way back from London. Couldn't find the whinchat that had been around earlier, but the bittern was booming and we picked up over 40 species in 3 hours.

Used the Merlin app for the first time properly tonight even if only briefly. Picked up 9 different birds within the first minute, including several hits from the same birds.

I heard and then briefly saw a swallow pass over this evening. Only my second of the spring. A week for a swift?
