Heard something unusual as I was walking past the golf links, a sort of short squeak repeated every 3 or 4 seconds, coming from up in a tree. After searching I realised that it was a squirrel doing what I assume was an alarm signal. Never come across that before, and we have lots of squirrels around our garden.

DT, one guy on the reserve today said he'd seen 2 swifts. I thought it was a bit early.

I had a wander out to Brontë Bridge this morning (Haworth Hobblers will know the way I went) in the hope of a cuckoo, but I had no luck. I did get willow warbler galore, mipit, curlew, oyk, lapwing etc

Apart from the one swallow I (probably mistakenly identified) saw early April, I’ve not see one. Though I have seen photos of a few in the area.

The nuthatch has turned up at work We have a big yew tree just outside my window and I just looked out and spotted it - along with a robin, a wagtail and a group of great tits And a squirrel.
Probably a good job my desk faces away from the window
