Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I should have popped in here and said. The other day I ended up running along a road herding little curlew babies into the hedge before a car came along. :-) I thought they were pheasants but then mummy curlew flew out if the hedge the other side. I didn't even properly click then until we were driving along a road a couple of days later and had to crawl along for a bit while another mummtly curlew sorted out her brood into the verges! And I realised I'd casually been herding rare bird chick's around!

I've not seen curlew chicks before and there's more curlews, lapwings and oyster catchers around this year generally.

I don't know if there has been some active management of the Corvid populations happening but there seems to be less of them around which will probably be helping the other birds.

Still mostly spot the lapwings when they are having a stress about something and chucking themselves about. There was one who was very unhappy about me riding the horse in my own field the other week. Sorry mate but needs must!

Had a great boat trip from Lerwick today looking at sea bird colonies. The guide then had fish he put in the water & Gannets were diving within feet of the boat, you could see them below the surface, majestic the way they enter the water like a bullet!
