Young blue tits have found my feeders and they seem to be enjoying some insects from the plum tree next to them too ![]() |

Finally got a shot of the GSW on our bird feeder this evening. They nest in the nearby park. |

Divebombed again tonight, by 2 curlews. I must have been far too close at one point but their attention was shortlived.

Divebombed again tonight, by 2 curlews. I must have been far too close at one point but their attention was shortlived. I was actually physically attacked, repeatedly, by a farmyard duck tonight. I was forced to retreat backwards uphill fending it off until it finally gave up after 50m 😂 |

Whoa! I had a farmyard duck hiss (!?) at me earlier this year for no apparent reason. It was on a pond the other side of a fence minding its own business until I came along, but that sounds a different league altogether.

um
GSWs in my blog today, if anyone interested fetcheveryone.com/blog/43889/2022/6/450815 Or do you know if they have phased young? ie we've seen a single baby for the last week, now just about fully independent. But then yesterday saw 2 more younger juveniles. Same brood or different? Will need to try & get photos and study them to see if they are the same parents - if they have any unique identifying features. |

Um in the past I have had GSW turn up with one youngster initially and then have a second one turn up a few days later, with the second one clearly less independent (ie younger). So I tend to think they do have staggered broods.

Having had the demise of a junior GSW the other day I've been pleased to see another two more independent ones turn up this morning. They need to work on their balance though!
