To make birdle more interesting you should try and see the bird after you've birdled it. Quickest wins.


Only way I'm seeing a hoopoe is to watch In the Night Garden!

I saw hoopoe in Gran Canaria, fun birds!

I will listen out for the mistle thrush, thanks for the tips.

Groundhog
I believe I saw a redwing a few days ago. Very unusual as it was by a hedge in Sandhurst but within 300m or 400m of woodland. Like a very small thrush or very large robin, mostly brown back, creamy chest with red patches under wings and eyebrow markings. I couldn't get a picture but it was very like this, but with less mottled front.

I've seen the odd redwing poking about on quiet verges near hedges with blackbirds etc. They don't always go out in the open in groups.

Quite often see loan ones along the canal here, scratching around in the grass and scrub.
