I would think it’s a you either know it or don’t start. Waders and warblers might be tougher ;-)

Back to the main thread, saw a little flock of busy long-tailed tits today from my window at work. Of all the time I've worked there, never noticed them before.

Ha, 'wader'

In the last week, at work, I have seen bullfinches and a mistle thrush.

Listen out for the mistle thrushes singing cackle. Quite loud repetitive snatches of melody

To make birdle more interesting you should try and see the bird after you've birdled it. Quickest wins.

I had a kestrel playing outside my window for a half hour yesterday. Alternately a welcome or distracting diversion while I was meant to be working. Was sitting on phone wires or branches and diving down into grass/field for something. Think it might be young - very light coloured, almost orangey. :-) G

To add to what DT said, yes, but don't confuse them with song thrushes which are also loud and repetitive. Mistle thrush song is much less musical and a little more baritone, short snatches usually sung from the very tops of trees.
