The green is always flying away here ...
GSWs featured in my blog today. I didn't get a ruler in the background to check the size. Will try harder next time.

Or maybe tie one (a ruler) to the feeder?

Not one, not two but three dippers on today's commute heart

They're easy to find at the moment because they're making *a lot* of noise :-)

Think we disturbed a curlew on today’s walk - field based and watched it fly away!

Only one dipper today after five yesterday plus a lovely v of geese which we reckon were pinkies.

It also looks like we have tree sparrows on the farm, but still being hesitant about being definite as there’s house sparrows there too - but they definitely have chestnut heads and white facey bits. Will do more watching tomorrow 🤪

I think dippers are mythical.
We have a female blackcap almost constantly on the feeder for the last week. We do see both sexes occasionally, but never had one so resident before

Dippers, disappointingly, are not a bird of Norfolk. Never seen one here, never expect to. They're always a treat for me when I go to hilly areas in the west and north. I've also seen lots of them in Norway when I've spent time there - their Norwegian name is 'fosskarl', which basically means 'waterfall chap'. I rather like that.

That is nice. I used to see them much more frequently than I do now. Last one was in a tiny stream, effectively in my church car park!
