The Kirkby ones were a local release, I believe.

The London ones are spreading north; there is now a small colony in Newcastle. They were originally released by Jimi Hendrix. Or The African Queen film set. Or not.

Didn't know they were there, DT, but they're regulars in Sheringham. Welcome to East Anglia, have a great time here!

Thanks J2R. Some were on a sandy bit of beach; not usual ‘stone environment in my albeit limited experience

Where I normally see them is trotting along the seafront, around the feet of the tourists. Very confiding little birds.

Enjoy Carlton Marsh - it's actually one I haven't been to. Treat yourself to Minsmere if you have the chance, it's magnificent.

On a campsite at Coniston Water in the Lake District and there's a feeder right in front of me. I didn't have my bins or book handy before it got dark but it looks like it will be busy. Woodpeckers, numerous tits, Nuthatch, Tree Creeper among the many so far.

2 kingfishers at Keyhaven yesterday. The first one flew out a culvert and was gone beforeI reacted. The second one came out a different culvert (over a mile away) and was off at high speed.

Met up with Off Roader after another mile. Then on the way back, I was saying 'keep an eye out, this is where I saw a kingfisher', when zip, zip - full speed.

Not good pics, but the first time I've got a shot of one. Even just a blur of one.
