It was one of those double take moments. Heard a few fairly often and I'm sure I've seen them in silhouette at least a dozen times but that was the first actual sight. Impressive considering yesterday's weather too!

Derby Tup
A pigeony shaped wader with a relatively short bill, that’s not purple but does have a habit of lurking in and around breaking waves. A bird often seen with turnstones in my experience

A hawthorn looking (optimistically) for water ... other than a fleeting glimpse a few days ago, never seen one here before.
Surprising what can be seen from the 'kettle' !
