Our most unusual garden visitor is a 3-way tie...
... between robin, dunnock and blue tit.

Most unusual birds I have had in the garden here are probably linnet and red-legged partridge, not because they're in any way rare, but they are certainly unexpected in a suburban city garden a couple of miles from the nearest farmland. Bramblings and redpolls are probably the most exciting.

I took the pic to show a path I use being unusable -I didn't even notice the bird until it flew away and I realised what it was

First redwing for me today. Took some pictures to get my eye in, thinking it was a song thrush, but checked the ID when I reviewed my photos.
Also got extremely lucky and saw the local park kingfisher. Seemed quite happy to be fishing in the little lake even with lots of people and photographers around.
Will post some pics later after I have processed them

Pics on my blog and in the gallery if you're interested. It really is one of the joys of learning to take photos, learning to identify the birds and learn more about them.

My wife managed to get some good photographs of the otters yesterday. There's a Domino's Pizza shop about 100 yards away from where this was taken.
