Good luck, Red Squirrel! Being in a place with birds is good for the soul. In summer, if I'm feeling a bit stressed or a bit low, lying in a recliner in the garden watching and listening to the birds does wonders for me. (It would probably be the case in winter, too, but pneumonia would put a damper on things).

Thanks folks. The goldfinches were so loud and chattery. It's nice to be somewhere where birdsong isn't drowned out by traffic. There is going to be so much bird life by the river. I need to get a decent set of binoculars.

Today's lunchtime walk - the resident long-tailed tits again. So lovely. Great tit - another resident I would guess. 2 wrens.

Ring necked parakeet in Newcastle town moor(although it probably lives in adjacent Exhibition park which has more trees). Heard the unusual, for here, call and looked up and clearly saw a bright green parakeet.

Apparently there are parakeets at the edge of Jasmine Dene/Paddy Freeman Rob - I’ve never seen them though.

Not really a birder, but sat WFH saw a green flash through the garden yesterday in North Cheshire seeing my first parakeet in our garden. Funny that that should coincide with the Newcastle postings above (especially so as my parkrunning son is down from there at Uni at the moment so I know where those sightings are!) and his bedroom looks out over where I spotted the same one.

I've never seen the parakeets but know they head over towards Gosforth Park as well.

Much brighter morning here today and a real increase in birdsong. Blackbird heard, plus a mistle thrush apparently mimicking a tawny owl :-)
