No fieldfare in the garden, but a few around the crab apple and whatever the other tree is just outside my back garden fence this afternoon :)

Derbyshire Birders have started an interesting little lockdown challenge as to how many species you can see within 2km of your house. I've got a pretty good local patch, not many will have a Great Northern Diver as a highly probable addition to their list. Didn't really do any birding today but running and heading out to the supermarket knocked up 30 species on Day 1. I forsee a dawn mission next week to see if I can get the Woodcocks coming into their roost in the reedbed 😉

The jays have just popped in for their daily rummage down the bottom of the garden.

Rosehip, yes, crab apples seem to be popular with fieldfares, once the first frosts have sweetened them up and changed the texture. The only time I've seen a fieldfare in the garden here was a couple of years ago, when once came regularly to the same small crab apple tree until all the fruit was gone.

There’s loads at the park but they normally just sit up in the trees or fly off if they’re on the ground and you get within about 20 metres. I was very surprised but made me very happy. They are indeed stunning .

HellsBells - present indicative looks amazing - thank you!

2 cormorants flying together higher over the river. Straight as arrows as usual. Beautiful to watch.

8 long-tailed tits on a large feeder that's been put on a tree beside the river. Wished I'd had a camera. They were all crammed on there at the same time. :)
