I am useless at identifying thrushes. This one was eating a windfall apple in my garden, can anyone enlighten me?

Lovely wet walk in the woods this morning but the bird feeders by the entrance were teeming. Lots of long tailed tits, a couple of treecreepers and saw a couple of bullfinch as well.

As HB said Heinzster. They do like a windfall when the ground is frozen. Certainly round here the only time you are likely to get them in the gardens, as opposed to out in the fields and hedgerows, is when the ground is frozen/snow covered.

Definitely fieldfare. Note the grey on the head.

'My' redwings have continued to come and perch briefly at the top of the big walnut tree which overhangs our garden - it's a good staging post and they don't hang around long. Not seen any fieldfares in the garden this year, though.
