Seventeen Cormorants together on the river this morning was a lot for the locality. A single Siskin along trail. A Chaffinch in the garden! Rare here!!

Redpoll hopping around under the bird feeder this morning - until the grumpy pied wagtail arrived and chased it off.

HF that's a very nice feeder spot. We get them in the area but never seen one near my feeders.

I've just had a female Sparrowhawk pass about 3 feet from my head (albeit on the other side of a pane of glass) as she tried (and failed) to swipe a Blue Tit off the feeders. Cue a huge amount of Blue Tit abuse from the safety of the rose bush as she slunk off across the courtyard.

HellsBells, a couple of years ago we had one coming regularly to feeders in our garden, which was fantastic as I'd actually seen very few in the wild at that point. Haven't seen it this winter, though.
