HowFar?
If you’re looking to go further afield for your holiday, there are dippers on a few of the rivers here (Donegal/Fermanagh/Tyrone border area).

Great walk today, couple of shags or northern divers in the sea at Llandudno. Would the divers be in winter plumage yet? Definitely pale fronted but had the shag like head with the sticking up bit. Any advice on id? Beautiful couple of stonechats on the Orme. Then a gorgeous buzzard, pale undercarriage with lovely tipped wings, hunting rabbits I think, but then got mobbed by the crows. Also saw a plain sparrow shaped bird amongst some reeds on the seafront it had a distinctive one tweet call and was getting a two tweet response, very plain looking. Been looking all through my books and can't find any possibilities. Any ideas whilst I've still got the call in my head? |

@HB Follow the River Wye up through Monsal Dale from the White Lodge car park on the A6 and you're likely to see some. Even if you don't it's a lovely walk. There's some further details on this ladies blog: pennyshotbirdingandlife.blogspot.com |

HB walk up Dovedale past Thorpe Cloud and the stepping stones early in the day before the masses arrive (park in the CP just above the Issac Walton Hotel). Anywhere above the stepping stones is a likely spot but the best section is about a KM beyond the stepping stones. Particularly good is the bit where the path is on a wooden boardwalk, pay particular attention to just under the far bank.
