Fab, ff - though just as jealous of you being in the Cheviots whilst I'm stuck in the flatlands.
I did see a lovely brave pair of green woodies this morning, they were not at all phased and continued pecking at the fairly freshly cut meadow as I walked past with the dog.

One of the few redeeming features of this time of the year is walking the dog in the half-light after sunset and seeing the barn owl patrolling/hunting up and down the green

Must have been a good night for Barnies - had one flying around about 6 foot in front tonight - seemed to be fascinated by the headtorch.

Been working on Anglesey for the last few days, highlights the field full of lapwing every evening and the red squirrels on the test site

Any pine martens in the area, bonners? I believe they are making a comeback in North Wales and often occur where red squirrels thrive (they prey on grey squirrels, but red squirrels, being smaller and lighter than greys, can get away from the pine martens to the ends of branches, and thus do well at the expense of the greys).
Bats around again yesterday evening. Does seem awfully late in the year for them.
