It was about 50ft away but an obstructed view for most of the time so I was doubting myself for a minute, beautiful colouring when I could finally see it though. Cors Caron nature reserve is where I saw it and the sparrowhawk.

Was hoping to see some hen harriers or a merlin there too but sadly not.

Redwing in next door's garden just now. I hope they discover our pyracantha berries before the blackbirds scoff the lot.

Lots of bats flying about the gardens. Never seen them here before and not sure where they will live as its all new build houses and not a lot of trees/plants etc.

Hello, can I ask advice?
It is Mr HB’s long held desire to see a dipper. It’s becoming something of A Thing. We go for nice walks along waterways we think would be suitable for dippers but no joy. So, where should I book our next short break away and what time of year to try and make an old man very happy?

Peak District (South ie White Peak) is good, as are the Yorkshire Dales. You’re looking for what Americans call free stone rivers ie the kind of environment trout inhabit

We saw one on the river just south of Penrith this week
