Velociraptor
[Gromit and I did a version of Leg 1 with one car at Threlkeld and one car in Keswick and I still couldn't move for days afterwards.]

Any time spent standing on Blencathra looking South isn’t wasted
I’ve not been to any cafes in that area but vaguely remember a shandy or something in the White Horse
A huge mug of tea in NE’s mate Tom’s van and now you’re talking

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good base for exploring the Western fells? It looks like there are loads of lovely, isolated places to stay but are there any spots that have just a little bit more going on, somewhere where I don’t have to drive every night to get dinner ingredients?!
We don’t need an Ambleside or a Keswick but somewhere with a co-op at least might be good.
Anyone got a view on somewhere like Gosforth?
Thanks!

Gosforth isn't too terrible. Ennerdale Bridge might be a reasonable place to consider?

Depending on how quiet or accessible you're after, then you could also consider Ravenglass?
