Hi Lakes Lovers!
Quick question, can you walk from Threlkeld to Keswick along the dis-used railway line?
I know parts of it/bridges were damaged but I had heard a rumor the route was now passable again...
I want to go through the cool tunnel!

Yes, it's open and has lovely tarmac and a tunnel 😀

The tunnel is mostly original, and it makes me unreasonably happy to run through it.
I also love the tarmac, although I was horrified when they proposed it. Especially when I am just looking for an easy return route to Keswick (and chips).

The tunnel makes me ridiculously happy too. Praise be to whoever did a half-arsed job of filling it in. I like the way the path sides have been cleared to open up the views.

It makes the walk back to Burns with a bagful of Booths finest or a bag of chips of an evening very pleasant

Getting an unreasonable amount of Lakes envy from this seeing as I was there less than three weeks ago

A good BG leg 1 recce is park at Threlkeld, jog to Keswick along disused railway, run leg 1 and drop down off Blencathra by preferred route to your car
